‘Selling Crime: the Failure of Success’

 

PD Viner is the author of two crime novels and two novellas. He will talk about his work and the crime genre fiction broadly, but he has a particularly interesting – and for our students, cautionary – story to tell around adaptation. His first novel, The Last Winter of Dani Lancing, was the optioned by a small production company in the UK for ITV as well as Warner Bros in the US. It was eventually bought by Warner Bros and sold to Showtime, who spent 1 million dollars on initial production, but has still to receive a final green light…
